Flash movie Final - Winter Dance

http://www.divshare.com/download/4374103-3ef

This is my third Flash Movie, and the first one with sound. This was my final movie for Flash class, and is a scene of an idea that would take up the entire sound file.

In the scene, a man is playing guitar in the woods. Faeries fly past him, landing in a clearing to gather around the faerie queen. She rises from her flower and dances to the snow.

The practice in musical timing was important, as I want my thesis to be something along the same vein - no dialogue, just music and pantomime.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints I didn't animate this as fully as was originally planned - the very beginning with the man playing the guitar, and the final dance scene, had to be rushed to meet the deadline. I think that it came out fine overall aside from the dancing queen needing some more movement frames. It could also use more camera tricks, such as zooming.

I might go back to it over the summer and clean it up - maybe even finish the entire song.

Harpy

I have always been fascinated with the idea of Harpies - they are my favorite mythological creature. How would a bird-woman look? I didn't want to just plop a bird head on a mostly human body, and instead tried to design a creature that was a monstrous blend of human and avian characteristics.

Old Drawings - 2006 - Pernese Dragon Head

I forgot to upload this when putting up older images. I love sci-fi books, one of my favorites being Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. This is a drawing based on a Pernese Dragon - a fictional creature from the series. They are described as having "headknobs", skin instead of scales, and compound eyes.

Figure sketches - Male Body, solid

This was a quick figure sketch of a male with a solid body, done in Illustration class.

Old Drawings - 2007 - Dolphins

This was drawn for a relative's birthday. She loves dolphins!

Old Drawings - 2007 - Dragon in Flight

Here is a drawing of a dragon in flight, using a bulkier design than my previous drawings. It has a very pronounced sternum, which would have probably been a requirement for anything that big to support itself in the air. I took a different approach to shading in this piece.
Drawn during summer of 2007.

Old Drawings - 2007 - My dog, Poochy

When I went to visit my mother's house in Florida last Christmas, she asked me to do a portrait of our dog, Poochy. Poochy is a Boston Terrier and though she's a bit grey around the muzzle now, she has the same spunk she did as a puppy. I tried to draw her when she sat still but, like all dogs, she was not willing to hold the pose for long. :)

Old Drawings - 2006 - Concept: Prey Animal

Sometimes, I wonder about how nature works and like to try and create creatures based on the evolutionary struggle for survival. This creature is a prey animal. It is built for speed, having long legs to run. It has a slim, doglike tail for balance. It has short rounded ears, a powerful neck and short forelimbs which could be used to grasp things.

Old Drawings - 2006 - Painting Study

French painting study of a woman wearing a traditional wig, from a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Old Drawings - 2004 - Horse Study

Drawings from a book on how to draw horses, done in order to better understand the hooves and skull in particular. Nothing special.

Old Drawings - 2004 - Gryphon

This was done for a high school project in which we had to design ourselves interacting with something. I chose to design a black and gold gryphon. This was made with Prismacolors. Unfortunately, I don't have a scan of the complete picture.

Old Drawings - 2005 "Dragon Fledgeling"

This was a pencil sketch of a young dragon done in 2005. His body is slim but the wings are huge, as are his shoulder muscles.

First Post

Hello. I will use this first post to introduce myself.

My name is Rebecca, and this will be a blog in which I post my art. It will include figure drawings, illustrations, concepts, flash movies, cartoons, animated pencil tests or anything else I've worked on. My favorite subjects include Wildlife illustration and fantasy\mythological drawings. I am currently trying to become better at human figure drawing, particularly the face.
